Claudio Ranieri claims Inter made a mistake by going all out for Luka Modric and urges Milan to ‘give Gennaro Gattuso time’.
Inter remain winless in Serie A after two games and a failed pursuit of Modric, while Milan’s 3-2 defeat to Napoli at the weekend put Gattuso’s position under the spotlight again.
“It seems to me that they have the same problems as last season,” Ranieri told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It seems to me that they have the same problems as last season,” Ranieri told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“It’s up to Spalletti to find the solution. The first half against Torino was great, but then everything changed.
“Not signing Modric? He’d have surely made a big impact. I don’t know the details of the deal well, but I have the impression that by focusing so much on a champion like him, it stopped them from looking for alternatives.
“I like Milan very much and really like Gattuso for his grit and tactical organisation. He just has to be given time.
“Milan will have a great season: the club have solid foundations and their former internationals have returned.”
