Former Inter and Germany star Andreas Brehme believes Ralf Rangnick is ‘the right man’ for Milan but warns he must learn Italian quickly.
Rangnick seems set to take over at Milan this summer, as a sporting director or manager in the English sense, and Brehme is confident his compatriot will succeed at San Siro.
“A German Milan could work, yes,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m a friend of Paolo Maldini, we met at a charity event. I read his latest comments and I’m sorry he finds himself in this situation.

“A German Milan could work, yes,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m a friend of Paolo Maldini, we met at a charity event. I read his latest comments and I’m sorry he finds himself in this situation.
“But I’ve also been friends with Ralf Rangnick for a long time. He’s very smart. I think he’d be the right man for Milan.
“I don’t know what will happen, but he’s always done well for clubs in their situation, like Hoffenheim, the Red Bull teams.
“He knows how to make his players play well, he has lots of tactical ideas, he’s always able to surprise.
“We also need to see which role he’ll fill. Rangnick must choose: will he be a technical director or coach?”
The 59-year-old then gave the RB Leipzig chief some lingustic advice if he was to become the Rossoneri’s coach.
“As a coach, he was very good. That could be his ideal position for Milan, but there’s an obstacle – the language.
“On the field, you can’t just figure things out in any old way. You have to know how to manage well. I know something about that.
“You must be able to communicate with players effectively. In-game orders must be immediate, understandable. A team must always know what they’re doing.”
