The Brazilian shot-stopper drew praise for his performance in his side’s Supercoppa win over Juventus, saving two penalties in a shoot-out win.
“Saving Padoin’s penalty was an incredible feeling,” Rafael recalled in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I was in similar situations in Brazil, but the Napoli shirt is special, and winning here is a unique experience.
“The next game against Juve will be very difficult, but we’re playing at home, it’s an important game, and we want to win it as well as all of our future ones.
“We played well at Cesena, we’ve started the year well, and we’re happy. We knew it would be difficult, we needed the right attitude to win.
“The victory in Doha [in the Supercoppa] gave us confidence, we won by playing with intensity and togetherness.
“We need to think one game at a time, and we have to win them all in the second half of the season.
“I like playing against the big teams, where there are higher levels of concentration required, we want to be top of the table.”
Juventus’ Gigi Buffon also received praise for his performance in the Supercoppa, and Rafael took the time to praise his rival.
“Buffon is very good. I had the opportunity to speak to him in Doha, he’s a very good goalkeeper and person.”
