An “upset” Fabio Quagliarella feels he let Sampdoria down after he missed a penalty against Parma on Sunday.
The club captain had the opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot in the 77th minute but fluffed his lines as the Blucerchiati went on to lose 1-0.
“As captain, I have an important responsibility, I am upset,” Quagliarella told Sky Sport Italia.
“I took the important penalty very poorly. Every penalty is a burden, unfortunately I didn’t hit it like I should’ve and I take the blame.

“We knew it would be tough today, and their goalkeeper did very well.”
The result leaves Samp 17th in Serie A, one point and one place above city rivals Genoa, but they can redeem themselves in the Derby della Lanterna this weekend.
“It’s always a derby, none of the teams are having a good time, it will be felt in a small city like this.
“Every game is important when you are in this position. We need to bounce back immediately. The mentality is everything, if you score, everything changes.
“The faith from the club, the team and the fans has never failed me, they always made me feel it. I signed before Cagliari, today I wanted to score goals and I didn’t succeed.
“I hope to thank the club as soon as possible on the pitch.”
