Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel didn’t shy away from the fact that the Champions League clash against Feyenoord will ‘have a big influence’ on the makeup of Group E.

The Biancocelesti majorly disappointed in their first meeting with the Eredivisie side this season, falling in a 3-1 loss at De Kuip in Rotterdam. The result leaves Maurizio Sarri’s side third in their group, pilling on the pressure ahead of the return round of fixtures.

Lazio had been in good form domestically after the international break with wins over Sassuolo and Fiorentina, but took a blow to their confidence after suffering a 1-0 loss to Bologna on the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia via TMW, Provedel spoke about the importance of Lazio’s clash with Feyenoord.

“It’s a match that will have a big influence on the final group table, as the first match was. Our task is to turn the situation around.”

The Italian goalkeeper then discussed what the Biancocelesti need to do differently in their second meeting with the Eredivisie outfit.

“The approach will have to be different, as well as the focus and the way of doing things. The pace will have to be different. I don’t want to be conditioned by external factors, I just want to do my best on the pitch.

“We need balance, every season cannot be perfect from start to finish. Even last year we had periods of difficulty. Now some things are not going right, but the team has the right spirit and that’s what counts.”

Lazio sit two points behind group leaders Feyenoord and one point behind Atletico, putting Sarri’s side in a tough spot.
