“We must always keep up our faith in reaching third place, all the way until the end. We all hope that this victory can restore our confidence. Sometimes an episode can change a whole season.
“The supporters have to be thanked. We've never been booed, and on Wednesday we understood how deeply this city cares for its team.”
Coach Paulo Sousa was cryptic with regards to his future and the possibility that he may leave the club at the end of the season.
“It's right that he should always talk about the present. When I think of the future, I imagine it to be in his company, because he's a smart man and I like working with him. We'll revise the whole situation at the end of the season.
“Today's victory also means a lot for [honorary President] Andrea Della Valle because he suffered very much. My future right now is not important, what matters is the club and the team.
“We're already working together for the future, we can't let ourselves be caught off-guard because we're an ambitious club and we always want to do better.”
