Andrea Pirlo explained his favourite free kick technique and said the Europa League is “a mini-Champions League.”
The midfielder curled another trademark set piece in during the 2-1 win over Lyon, which sent Juventus through to the semi-finals.
“This is a fortunate period for me and I hope it continues,” Pirlo told Sky Sport Italia.
“I try to vary the free kicks. In the first leg I was unlucky, as the wall jumped except for one player whose foot got in the way. This time I decided to go over the wall.
“The most enjoyable is always over the wall. It’s a classic and I’ve been doing those since I was a kid.”
Benfica, Sevilla and Valencia are the other semi-finalists and the draw is on Friday.
“These are three strong teams who are accustomed to the Champions League, so we can say this is like a mini-Champions League. We’ll wait to see who we get tomorrow in the draw.”
