The Coach was drafted in from Chievo to replace Delio Rossi and began pre-season training eight days ago.

“Not much time has passed, but I am very happy with the way my players are working, as they're always focused, professional and ready,” said Pioli.

“I have a great side at my disposal and this is why I can say I'm optimistic.

“Right from the first friendly games against local sides I want to see those first rules of the football we've been working on.

“We are introducing a whole new tactical system and need to become a team as quickly as possible.”

President Maurizio Zamparini revealed that Pioli has had to work out two tactical systems in case Javier Pastore is sold this summer.

The player is not taking part in pre-season training anyway, as he is in Argentina for the Copa America.
