“The game was pretty easy to analyse. We immediately went under pressure against a team that looks unbeatable right now and was certainly too much for us tonight,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“We also made life easier for Roma by starting so badly. We have to cancel this from our mind, as next week we begin the games that really count for Bologna.
“In our first six rounds I certainly saw we were not up to the task against Napoli and Roma. When you don’t put your 100 per cent potential out there against strong teams, you’re going to get heavily beaten.
“We conceded at the first free kick, then received the second on a counter-attack from our own corner. It was psychologically damaging to the side and we lost all belief.
“Roma certainly deserve a great deal of credit and at the same time this certainly isn’t the real Bologna.
“I believe in this squad, the moment is delicate, but our season will effectively start next week.”
