“I apologise to everyone I offended with my completely out of place comments, which I regret,” Perin wrote on his Instagram profile.
“I wrongly referred to historical facts, not being aware of their tragic gravity. In a period which isn’t easy for me on a professional level, I didn’t have the calmness to avoid reacting to a series of continuous and serious provocations aimed at me and my family.
“All this, of course, is not an excuse because I know I was wrong on every level and I take full responsibility.
“The disappointment is even greater because my attitude did not reflect the values I believe in and try to pursue.”
