Lorenzo Pellegrini disagrees with the idea that Italy must cull their older guard as some are ‘points of reference for us youngsters’.
Pellegrini played the majority of Italy’s 1-1 draw with England on Tuesday, lining up in a new-look midfield alongside Jorginho and Marco Parolo.
“I saw a team that had the right hunger, with the desire to bounce back and win,” the Roma starlet said in the mixed zone after the game.

“We must remember that we played at Wembley against a good England side. We have time to grow and keep working, and we must exploit [the time we have] completely because we want to do well.
“What we need to improve on? Surely in terms of attitude, but there are some great players who are points of reference for us youngsters. We keep them close to us.”
