Ex-Inter President Ernesto Pellegrini has called for current incumbent Erick Thohir, to be given time and patience at the club.
Indonesian businessman Thohir has gone on record as saying that it would be difficult for the Nerazzurri to return to the top of the Italian game anytime soon and one of his predecessors in Pellegrini believes fans must be understanding.
“Thohir needs time to properly understand Italian football, he still doesn’t know it,” said Pellegrini while speaking to Radio Sportiva.

“Thohir needs time to properly understand Italian football, he still doesn’t know it,” said Pellegrini while speaking to Radio Sportiva.
“I made a statement by signing Rummenigge but those were different times. It’s fair that before spending money Thohir makes his own evaluations. Today it would cost at least €10m for a player around Rummenigge’s level.
“I agree with him, there needs to be a season of transition in order to then put it right in the summer. Inter cannot sign anything less than great players, because they must always fight to win.”
Following a disappointing draw at home to Chievo over the weekend, the Nerazzurri lie in fifth place with little hope of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, and Pellegrini believes that referees in addition to the period of transition are not helping his ex-side’s chances of succeeding.
“It’s an unfortunate period,” said Pellegrini. “Something’s not right. I don’t want to make any accusations but the other day there was a perfectly good goal.
“I’m not going to comment on the penalties but Yuto Nagatomo’s goal was fine.”
