Fiorentina’s Manuel Pasqual and Siena’s Matteo Rubin deserve a shot with the Italian national side, says Angelo Di Livio.

“It would surprise me if an alert tactician like Italy boss Cesare Prandelli didn’t give them an opportunity,” the former Juventus and Fiorentina man told TMW.

“Pasqual, at this moment, is demonstrating that he is a real leader, a real captain, a player who you can’t help but take notice of.

“Rubin, meanwhile, has really impressed me. So much so that I have personally congratulated Siena. He’s really improved this season, to such a point that only Pasqual is better than him in his role.”

Both players are left-backs.

Rubin is a 26-year-old former Under-21 international. The 31-year-old Pasqual, meanwhile, has two caps – but they were won back in 2006.

Italy play Brazil in a friendly and Malta in a World Cup qualifier later this month.
