Tommaso Ghirardi has admitted that Parma would be interested in trying to re-sign Sebastian Giovinco from Juventus in the summer.

The diminutive forward is being increasingly linked with an exit from the Bianconeri at the end of a season in which he has so far struggled for playing time under Antonio Conte.

Having enjoyed a productive couple of years at the Ennio Tardini, it has been put to the Ducali’s owner and President that they may be one possible future destination, and this has not been dismissed.

“Yes, we have a wonderful memory of Giovinco,” began Ghirardi when prompted by Raidue this week.

“You have to recall what we received in selling him, whilst we had paid €4m [for 50 per cent] when he seemed an overrated player – €4m for half, which means a valuation of €8m.

“Could he return to Parma? Yes, sure, I can only say yes. It is clear that he is a very important player and I do not think that Juventus will release him easily, because they have also made an important economic effort to sign him back from us.

“He is a player who is amongst great champions. We can say that Giovinco does not play, but we cannot forget that those playing in his place include Tevez, Llorente, Osvaldo…champions.”
