The Stadio Tardini outfit signed a 50 per cent share of the attacker in the summer for just €3.5m from Juventus.

Yet such has been his impact this season – 10 goals in 26 League appearances – that he is expected to move on at the end of the campaign.

“We have no fear in losing Giovinco,” Ghirardi underlined. “We are proud that he is with us, but if we sell him then he would bring in the money to improve our accounts.”

The 25-year-old, now also a regular in the Italian international set-up, has been paired with a return to Turin.
