Angelo Palombo says he is ready to turn down top-flight football in order to remain with relegated Sampdoria.
"I have had offers from other clubs, but I'm not even thinking about them," the captain stated. "My desire is to stay here."
Samp made it clear in recent weeks that they would not keep the player against his will at Marassi and the two parties have now finally held initial talks.
"I wanted to meet the new Coach and put myself at his disposal," Palombo said after speaking with tactician Gianluca Atzori.

"I too wanted to see into his eyes. The important thing is to be convinced about playing on here and I think we can have a great season."
The midfielder, who is hoping to be part of Italy's Euro 2012 squad next summer, has been linked with moves to Inter, Fiorentina and Napoli.
It's understood that Sampdoria and Palombo will meet again in the next few weeks to confirm their plans for next term.
