Parma’s Raffaele Palladino has urged Juventus fans to not compare Sebastian Giovinco to Alessandro Del Piero.
Giovinco spent the last two seasons at the Stadio Tardini, but has returned to Turin after Del Piero left at the end of his contract.
“People shouldn’t put too much pressure on Giovinco,” Palladino, himself a former Juventino, noted.
“He is a player with a lot of quality who could be a part of Juventus for many years to come. He’ll certainly do well, as his start to the season suggests.”
The No 12 scored twice in the 4-1 win at Udinese just days before Del Piero announced that he’d be continuing his career with Sydney FC.
“I wish him all the best, he made the best choice,” Palladino continued. “I was a Juve fan as a kid and I grew up with the legend of Alex.
“I was also lucky enough to actually play alongside him. That was an enormous honour given that I consider him to be the best No 10 of the last 20 years.”
