Angelo Ogbonna “would love to play for Italy again” after recovering from knee surgery, “but for now West Ham is more important.”
The former Torino and Juventus centre-back has been in London since the summer of 2015 and is rediscovering his form this season.
“Of course, I wish to come back to the national team,” he told the official West Ham website.
“I would love to play for Italy again, but for now West Ham is more important than anything else because we need a lot of points to get safe.

“The best thing is to do things step by step. If I do good things for West Ham, then hopefully I will get the chance to do good things with Italy again.”
The 29-year-old had surgery on a knee issue in January 2017 that kept him out for the rest of that season, but has only 13 senior Italy caps to his name, the most recent in 2016.
This season, Ogbonna has played 28 competitive games for the Hammers, scoring three goals.
