The club made the announcement this afternoon, confirming he “is a new player of Genoa CFC. Konate hit the headlines by scoring five goals in the London 2012 Olympics.”
The 19-year-old had moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to FC Krasnodar, but struggled to feel at home in Russia.
He had been linked with the likes of Southampton, West Ham, Bordeaux, Rennes and Sochaux, but opted for Serie A side Genoa.
Konate has joined Genoa on loan from Krasnodar with an option to buy at the end of the season. He has already undergone a medical.
The news comes on the same afternoon that Genoa sold their half of Ciro Immobile to Juventus, who then entered a co-ownership deal with Torino.
