Roma have officially terminated director Franco Baldini’s contract by mutual consent, leaving him free to join Tottenham.
The former England team manager had said over the last few days he was prepared to take the blame for the disastrous last two seasons.
“We thank Franco Baldini for his service to AS Roma over the past two seasons,” declared President James Pallotta.
“He played an important role in the launch of our project. We wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Now director of sport Walter Sabatini will be in charge of transfer negotiations, reporting directly to CEO Italo Zanzi.
“I want to thank the owners of AS Roma for the opportunity that was given to me,” added Baldini.
“I was very happy at Roma and wish the club, players and fans all the best.”
Baldini is now widely expected to take over as a director at Tottenham, where he was specifically requested by Andre Villas-Boas.
