Massimo Oddo insists Udinese intended to attack Napoli in the Coppa Italia, but “they force you” to sit back and defend.
The Friulani had very little possession, but were holding out until Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens came off the bench, combining to score the winning goal.
“I was angry on the Napoli goal, because the team worked so hard and ran very few risks, so we shouldn’t have lost the ball so cheaply,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“Today we had to make changes, it was physiological, but it’s not easy against a side that is that strong. We did very well defensively.
“We had also prepared to make more counter-attacks, but it is down to Napoli’s talent that we did not put those plans into practice.
“If you play deep against Napoli, it’s generally not a choice, but because they force you to do that.”
