Chelsea are reportedly resisting Maurizio Sarri’s calls to sign Nicolò Barella, so Arsenal become Napoli’s biggest opposition for the Cagliari talent.
According to Sky Sport Italia and the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, Sarri insists Barella and Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain are the January signings that will vastly improve the team.
However, as confirmed by his comment that he wasn’t even told they’d bought Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund, the club pays relatively little attention to his views.

This means that Chelsea are pulling back from signing Barella from Cagliari just days after reports of a €50m proposal.
Instead, Napoli become the favourites for around €45-50m, but they would only make that sort of offer at the end of the season.
The only alternative would be if Allan were to be sold in January, as Paris Saint-Germain are desperate to bring in the Brazilian.
Sky Sport Italia add another warning that Arsenal are not to be underestimated in their interest for Barella.
The 21-year-old has said in the past that his style of football is suited to the Premier League, particularly an approach to tackling that is more rugged than many Serie A referees are happy with.
