Antonio Nocerino remembered those children shot dead at a school in America after the 4-1 win over Pescara.
The Italian international opened the scoring at San Siro and paid tribute to the 20 children and six women who were killed by a lone gunman in Newtown, Connecticut.
“I dedicate this goal to the families of the children who were killed in America,” the former Palermo player commented.
Turning to events in Serie A, the midfielder underlined how crucial the three points were ahead of the trip to Roma.
“I said that we needed to get points on the table to get to the match against Roma in good shape,” he continued.
“Regardless of the goal, it was important to close the year well in front of our own fans.
“We had a good first half, we didn’t start the second one as well but with determination we were able to bring home the three points.
“Roma? A win on Saturday would be the end of a very positive period for us.
“Now we need continuity and until we bring the team back to a good position in the League we can’t talk about having turned things around.”
It has been a tough season so far for the Diavolo, who are currently seventh in the standings, a massive 14 points behind leaders Juventus.
“I think we’ll do even better after the holidays,” Nocerino continued. “The game against Roma is now the most important one.”
