Fiorentina insist they didn’t turn down any offer for Juan Cuadrado in the summer – as one never arrived.

The Viola resolved their co-ownership of the international by giving Udinese14m for their 50 per cent of the player’s contract.

However, it was believed that he would then be instantly sold on at a major profit with outfits such as Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Juventus all keen.

“The club always had a firm intention of keeping him,” Executive President Mario Cognini told Sky Sport Italia.

“We believe that he is a champion who will aid the Viola to achieve certain targets.

“Fiorentina never wanted to sell him and, anyway, an official offer for the player was never made to us from any club.”

The Colombian, formerly of Lecce, has scored 16 goals in 68 League appearances for the Tuscan outfit.
