Lazio have been granted a reprieve with the news that Modibo Diakite’s suspected leg break is only severe bruising.
The defender, who suffered a fractured tibia that ruled him out of the entire 2008-09 campaign, caused concern this weekend after he sustained a blow to his left leg during a Saturday workout against Montebelluna.
It was suspected that he had again broken his leg, but tests undergone today back in Rome revealed that no fracture had been incurred. However, a build-up of fluid has been detected, so the player has been advised to rest for three weeks so as to allow a full recovery.
It is the second injury blow to have hit new Coach Vladimir Petkovic’s pre-season preparations with the Aquile, after summer signing Ederson’s knee injury sustained last week.
