Napoli have already qualified from their Europa League group, but Edinson Cavani will still play against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday.
Boss Walter Mazzarri has the chance to rest players ahead of the Inter game, but their top scorer will start.
“He’s asked me if he can play,” the tactician stated on Wednesday. “Cavani is the type of player who, if he doesn’t play or train, then doesn’t perform as well as he can do.
“It is clear that the match against Inter is important, but he is one of the few players who benefits from playing and playing.”
Mazzarri has used an extensive rotation policy in Europe so far this season and it seems to have worked given that they are through and just two points shy of leaders Juventus in Serie A.
“We have an international reputation to defend, but my decisions have allowed us to not lose too many points in the championship,” he added.
“Who will play tomorrow? Rosati; Uvini, Fernandez, Campagnaro; Maggio, Dzemaili, Donadel, Dossena; El Kaddouri, Vargas, Cavani.”
Goran Pandev will start on the bench, but he could be given some action after recent injury.
The former Sampdoria tactician was also quizzed on this weekend’s big match in the Italian top flight.
“Inter are doing some great things with their three-man defence,” said Mazzarri who has used the system for some time.
“They have players like Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and everyone else who have been giving them something extra in recent times.”
