Napoli are gearing up to send in an offer to Atalanta for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, la Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

The Partenopei have been quiet in the summer transfer window, failing to sign any first-team players for Rudi Garcia’s squad. Star defender Kim Min-Jae was sold to Bayern Munich for €50m, leaving a gap in the backline.

Napoli had been linked with a move for Kevin Danso, but the defender renewed his contract with RC Lens, forcing the defending champions to look elsewhere. A new midfielder is also needed after Tanguy Ndombele’s return to Tottenham.

Page 10 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Napoli are prepared to offer around €30m for Koopmeiners, a little below Atalanta’s €40m asking price.

The 25-year-old Dutchman is incredibly keen on the idea of joining the Partenopei this summer, wanting to both play in the Champions League and compete for silverware in Italy.

Last season, Koopmeiners scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 33 Serie A appearances.
