Bortolo Mutti has had a very poor start to his Palermo career, but ordered them to “stop thinking about” the recent results when preparing to face Chievo.

The Coach was drafted in for Devis Mangia before Christmas and has so far experienced a 2-2 draw at Novara and a 3-1 home defeat to Napoli.

“In our line of work, defeat is part of the natural order of things, but we also need to immediately digest them and stop thinking about the past. We have to do the same with positive results too,” said Mutti.

“I prepared this game with determination and a relaxed approach. We worked on some important aspects of our approach, but still need to develop and bring everyone into the project.

“We know all Chievo’s characteristics, including their tempo, organisation and physical strength.”

There is good news with Mauricio Pinilla, Igor Budan and Fabrizio Miccoli shaking off injuries, while Mutti somewhat regrets his decision to throw January signing Franco Vazquez in from the start against Napoli.

“He still needs to understand the right movement and positioning.”
