Moratti denied suggestions that he would return to be club President again in an interview yesterday, but reports continue to insist on his intentions.
Il Giornale writes today that while Moratti supports current Inter President Erick Thohir’s efforts to find minority shareholders, his plan B involves taking back ownership.
The report says that ever since the renewal of the club’s sponsorship deal with Pirelli a month ago, Moratti has been planning the acquisition of 25 per cent of the Beneamata.
That amount of shares on top of his current 29.5 per cent would make Moratti the club’s majority shareholder once again.
Should he take over, Roberto Mancini would reportedly be the patron’s first choice as Coach but if Mancio decides to leave after a difficult year, Moratti would target Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.
The other suggestion from the report is that Moratti would like to bring PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to San Siro, with the sale of Mauro Icardi potentially funding a lucrative contract offer.
Furthermore, Samir Handanovic could leave to be replaced by Genoa’s Mattia Perin according to the outlet.
