Massimo Moratti says he’s ‘absolutely not’ selling Inter shares after reports of Chinese investment.
Reports today said that Nerazzurri President Erick Thohir was looking to sell 20 per cent of the club’s shares to Chinese investors, six per cent of which belonged to Moratti.
The former Inter owner denied that he is selling any of his stake in the club but underlined that ‘it’s right to seize these opportunities.’
“Selling my shares? No, absolutely not,” Moratti said to FC Inter News.
“From my part there’s no intention to sell, there’s the intention to go on reinforcing the club according to the agreement with the shareholders.
“In the future we will see, but for now there’s no movement.
“I sat down with Thohir and we stayed silent for an hour and a half (laughs)…he rightly told me about the club’s movements, but nothing that about major changes.
“Would I welcome investment from China or elsewhere? I’m in favour of anything that can strengthen the club. If there are these opportunities it’s right to seize them. But for now it’s only gossip.”
Moratti also commented on Sunday evening’s 2-1 defeat to Torino, in which the Beneamata had two players sent off.
“I expected another result. But in the second half of the match everything went wrong, even with luck,” he said.
“Then I saw this morning that the penalty conceded was false, from which everything went wrong.
“It went against what we expected after the first half and also during the week. Is the Champions League possible? I don’t know.”
