Inter legend Beppe Bergomi was left impressed with the performance of Milan’s Riccardo Montolivo in Italy’s win over Denmark.
The midfielder scored the opening goal at San Siro as the Azzurri took control of their World Cup qualifying group with a 3-1 victory.
“In my opinion, Montolivo was Man of the Match,” the former Azzurri stopper told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I believe that his performance was extraordinary. As well as scoring a goal, he also helped to protect the defence.”
Italy won the game despite having Roma’s Pablo Daniel Osvaldo sent off in the 46th minute of the encounter.
Montolivo, initially fielded behind the strikers in a 4-3-1-2 system, now has two goals in 39 caps for his country.
