Captain Riccardo Montolivo says new signing Mario Balotelli must 'show on the long term' that he changed for Milan.
The midfielder doesn't appear to be at the top of Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic's preferences, but in an interview with Milan Channel he admitted he was working to change that.
“I'm trying to return to my top condition so that I can give the Coach a tough time making decisions,” he said.
“But of course I'm not happy about not having played the first two matches of the season.
“Still, it's something that has to be accepted, as one's personal interest always comes after the interest of the team.
“I'll say this again: I want to give Mihajlovic a tough time making his choices.
“Juventus? I have no comments on certain transfer rumours. I'm happy and proud to be Milan's captain.”
Montolivo then discussed Mario Balotelli, who came back to the Rossoneri after an unfortunate year at Liverpool.
“He has to show on the long term that he really changed in his behaviour.
“I hope he does that, because he can be an extra resource for the team. He has the club and the team's support.
“The Champions League? It's tough to watch others playing it, we want to go back to being in it ourselves.
“When you're out of it, these are the most difficult days.
“It's our duty and our responsibility. The club worked well on the transfer market, now it's our turn.
“But objectives are not to be declared, they are only to be met.”
