Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella says he thinks his side are protesting too strongly against refereeing decisions while out on the pitch.

The Viola have been on the receiving end of some controversial decisions of late and most recently were reduced to nine men during their draw at Parma on Monday.

“We have always respected the referees’ decisions,” Montella said at his pre-match Press conference ahead of his side’s match with Esbjerg.

“Everyone can make mistakes, I’ve had enough of saying it, but I have the right to ask officials to explain their decisions.

“I don’t want to talk about these things anymore.

“At Parma I warned the players that we are getting bad decisions because we are arguing and protesting too much on the pitch.

“We don’t have to protest but if our protests are looked upon badly by others then that’s not good for us.

“If in every game it seems like a war between us and the officials it’s not good.

“The team will not get down, there will be a reaction.

“We don’t want to be friends with the referees but it seems like a continuous war!

“I hope that most of Borja Valero’s ban will be reduced he absolutely did not push the referee."

Montella, who has today been linked with Barcelona, was then asked about tomorrow night’s Europa League second leg.

“Nothing has been decided,” he answered. “We have an advantage and we will put the best team possible out on the pitch.

“We must not underestimate the opponent, we must take advantage of the lead we have and qualify.”
