Vincenzo Montella is still not satisfied with Fiorentina’s 7-0 win over Apollon Limassol and reveals why he dropped Adem Ljajic.
The Viola are on stunning form and quickly integrating their new signings, including Mario Gomez and the fit-again Giuseppe Rossi.
“The team continues to take the initiative, but we need to improve a great deal in terms of balance when attacking,” said the Coach.
“In Italy you can’t get away with anything, especially if you leave space for the counter-attacks.
“Rossi has recovered from his injury, so he must use these friendlies to get accustomed to being tackled. He still needs to improve his intensity, but it’s good progress.”
Ljajic did not take part in the game today and Montella revealed it was related to contract renegotiations.
“We all know Ljajic’s quality and he still needs to grow. There are some market situations in play and over the last few days I saw some conflict within him.
“He’ll play as long as I can see that he is relaxed and gives me guarantees on his concentration, especially considering his age.”
Montella has also been in contract talks with Fiorentina and confirmed the announcement of an extension is “just a matter of making it official.”
