“Udinese are a team who like to attack on the counter, so we need to be patient, determined and keep the tempo high,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“I wouldn’t say there are hidden dangers in this game so much as clear and present dangers. I consider it a tough fixture.”
Franck Ribery will receive an award before kick-off as Serie A MVP for September, having provided two goals and an assist over the last three games.
“We tip our hats to him and hope he can receive another award for MVP of the season. Ribery is accustomed to awards, but what I didn’t know was that he hadn’t played five consecutive matches since 2014. We’ve got to put him in the right conditions to give his best.
“Those who aren’t playing regularly at the moment must realise they’ll be our fuel in the tank for later in the season. That also goes for Pedro, who has a lot of quality, but needs to improve physically and in his consistency. We want to avoid him getting hurt.
“We have some concerns with injuries in defence, but hope to have everyone available.”
Fiorentina finally ended their 18-round Serie A winless streak and have been unstoppable ever since, beating Sampdoria and Milan.
“It’s impossible to rest on our laurels,” smiled Montella. “We’ve got to have the same determination, adrenaline and fear of failure that we had over the last couple of weeks.
“We’ve just started walking, but it’ll be a while before we can run. The important thing is that we’re on the right track.”
