Vincenzo Montella feels Fiorentina have found their form again because they were unaccustomed to playing twice a week.

The Viola beat Udinese 2-1 this afternoon to end a negative streak of results, despite the injury crisis.

“Preparing one game per week is certainly different,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“You lose sharpness when you play every three days, whereas today in terms of intensity and desire we did much better. If you have psychological and physical freshness, then that’s what happens.

“Borja Valero had a slight muscular problem in training and we didn’t want to take the risk, so he was rested.

“Juan Cuadrado can play anywhere and if he learns can even be a full-back. With Matos I like his determination, pace and work ethic. He needs to improve in front of goal, but he has time.”

Fiorentina now have a five-point advantage over fifth-placed Inter and are nine adrift of Napoli in third.

“We are in a good position and this was a very important victory to consolidate fourth place, which I feel we deserve. We struggled recently, but nothing is decided yet and we want as many points as possible.”
