Marca is reporting Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain is ‘hours away’ from becoming a Chelsea player, but Sky Sport Italia disagrees.

According to the Spanish newspaper, Higuain ‘has already said yes’ to Chelsea and is close to finalising his switch.

Marca goes on to explain that the Blues will effectively take over Milan’s loan with a €36m obligation to buy and the Argentine’s €8m salary.

Marca goes on to explain that the Blues will effectively take over Milan’s loan with a €36m obligation to buy and the Argentine’s €8m salary.

He would then replace Alvaro Morata, who missed the Londoners’ League Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday and is reportedly on his way to Sevilla.

On the other hand, Sky Sport stresses that while Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri wants the deal to happen, the club are not prepared to spend so lavishly on a player over 30 and the Rossoneri intend to keep him.

Furthermore, Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros admitted on Tuesday night that a deal for Morata was ‘very, very, very difficult’.

The 31-year-old only joined Milan from Juve last summer and has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for the Diavolo this season.

However, his impact was stunted by a muscle injury in September and a two-match ban for a red card against his parent club.

Higuain would be reunited with Sarri, who coached him at Napoli during a 38-goal, 2015-16 campaign.
