Former Inter and Genoa striker Diego Milito will retire from football tomorrow night.

The 36-year-old has spent the last three seasons with Racing Club in his native Argentina, and will hang up his boots after Sunday’s game against Temperley [Saturday CET and GMT].

“It’s a very emotional moment for me, and I’ll definitely be emotional tomorrow,” Milito said in a Press conference.

“I don’t know how I’ll react in the moment. You’re never prepared to leave what you love, but I’ve spent the last six months thinking about this.

“I always wanted to retire from football in this shirt. I feel calm and happy: I’m at home.

“I’m grateful to Genoa, Real Zaragoza and Inter, who gave me so much, but Racing is my home. I had a wonderful career, and I sacrificed a lot to get where I did.

“I think hard word always pays off. With hard work, dreams can come true.”

Milito scored 57 goals in 90 games for Genoa, but is probably best remembered for his time with Inter.

His 30 goals in the 2009-10 season fired the Nerazzurri to the treble, with the Argentine getting both goals in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

Injuries curtailed his contribution thereafter, but El Príncipe still ended his Beneamata career with 75 goals and 27 assists in 171 games.

In 2014 he returned to Racing, his boyhood club, where his career began.
