Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is happy to wait until the last 90 minutes of the season to qualify for the Champions League.

The Diavolo would have secured third spot with a victory over Roma on Sunday, but the 0-0 draw means Fiorentina still have a chance of overtaking them next weekend.

“There shouldn’t be any bitterness,” Galliani stated following the San Siro stalemate on Sunday evening.

“If we were told after the first eight games that we’d be fighting for third place at the end of the season we would have signed on for that…

“We didn’t manage to take advantage of the match point we had, but we’ll get it against Siena. Getting into the Champions League preliminary stages would be something great.”

The Diavolo have had a splendid second half of the campaign, losing just once to champions Juventus in 18 Serie A games.

“The team have picked up 39 points in the second half of the campaign and that gives me faith,” Galliani continued.

“Siena are already in Serie B? They won’t do us any favours.”
