Aston Villa boss Unai Emery insists Milan target Clément Lenglet will remain at the club in the second part of the season.
The French defender has been linked with a loan move to the Stadio Meazza as the Rossoneri are looking for a new centre-back to bolster Stefano Pioli’s options.
Lenglet is on loan from Barcelona and hasn’t yet made his Premier League debut this season, collecting five Conference League appearances so far in 2023-24.
However, Aston Villa coach Emery is not considering parting ways with the 28-year-old in January, as he said at a press conference on Thursday.
“I want to keep Lenglet at Villa in the second part of the season,” claimed the Spanish tactician, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“Tomorrow [today] he’s gonna play. I hope to see him and I’m really very excited about how he will help us.
“We need players for the challenges we are going to face this season,” concluded the Spanish coach.
Milan visit Salernitana on Friday night in the last away game of the year. Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori are the only fit first-team centre-backs for the Rossoneri tonight.
The Serie A giants have also been linked with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, a former Spezia defender, for January.
