Milan will meet UEFA on Tuesday as they prepare to discover whether they will play Europa League football next season.
The meeting will take place at UEFA’s headquarters in the Swiss town of Nyon, with a verdict on Milan’s European fate expected ‘within 48-72 hours’.
Representing the Rossoneri are CEO Marco Fassone, financial officer Valentina Montanari, communications officer Fabio Guadagnini, economist Umberto Lago – also one of Financial Fair Play’s (FFP) founding fathers, who assisted the club with their settlement agreement – and two lawyers.
The sextet will plead the Diavolo’s before UEFA’s Adjudicatory Chamber, which rejected their agreement on May 22.
In the event Milan are banned from participating in the Europa League, Sport Mediaset claims they will appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) ‘within 7-10 days’ of the governing body’s verdict.
Their argument would focus on the ‘commitment’ of Elliott Management – the hedge fund which helped fund Li Yonghong’s takeover last year with a €303m loan – and ‘transparency of the club’s accounts’.
