Milan are starting to plan out a new contract for star goalkeeper Mike Maignan and are reportedly looking to avoid including a release clause.
The 28-year-old Frenchman has been a key star for the Rossoneri since his arrival from Lille in the summer of 2021, being the perfect replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Maignan has proven himself a key factor behind Milan’s success, and his long absence last season with a calf injury perfectly displayed his importance to Stefano Pioli and the squad.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport via TMW, Maignan currently earns around €3.2m net per season until 2026, and the club are keen to reward him with a new long-term deal that bumps his salary.
Talks began with his entourage in the summer and will continue over the coming months as the club try to find an agreement on the details. They do not want to include a release clause, aware of the interest circulating around him.
