Goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has admirers in England, but the goalkeeper wants to sign a new contract at Milan.

The 35-year-old, who joined the club in 1998, is only tied to the Diavolo until the end of this season.

“It’s true, there are English sides who are keen, but it is too soon to talk about it,” agent Claudio Vigorelli told Spazio Milan. “We firstly want to understand the intentions of Milan.”

The Rossoneri are a club who, in recent years, have only discussed contract renewals for their older players once a season has come to an end.

“The player is very calm, he’s aware of his ability and he has the desire to remain with the Rossoneri,” the representative added.

“We’ll wait for some signals from the club. We’ll certainly meet up with the directors at the end of the season and evaluate the situation.

“Abbiati wants to end his career with these colours because you all know how much he is attached to the Rossoneri.”

The former Italian international has been loaned to Torino, Juventus and Atletico Madrid during his San Siro stay.
