Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has won the backing of Marco Tardelli to become the new Coach of Inter.

"Mihajlovic knows the environment well and this, especially for Inter, is important," the Republic of Ireland assistant told Firenzeviola.it.

"I don't think the fact that he is young and perhaps still a little bit like a footballer is a problem," continued the man who bossed Inter during the 2000-01 campaign.

"I think Mihajlovic is a good Coach and I believe that he could do very well at Inter given the chance.

"All the Italian Coaches, or those brought up through the Italian school, could do well at a big side, it just depends on how much the club backs them."

President Massimo Moratti knows the 42-year-old well, seeing as the former Lazio defender has spent time at Inter as a player and an assistant to previous Coach Roberto Mancini.

Tardelli also reassured concerned Fiorentina fans that Mihajlovic could be adequately replaced at the Stadio Franchi.

"If Mihajlovic leaves Fiorentina then I think Delio Rossi or Gian Piero Gasperini would fit in well in Florence. They are both excellent Coaches."

Rossi and Gasperini have also been paired with the Nerazzurri.
