Sinisa Mihajlovic said it’s “no coincidence” Milan have won three on the bounce since changing tactics as they beat Lazio 3-1.

The Rossoneri notched up a third consecutive victory, moving into joint fifth place with Sassuolo and only five points off the leaders.

Sinisa Mihajlovic said it’s “no coincidence” Milan have won three on the bounce since changing tactics as they beat Lazio 3-1.

The Rossoneri notched up a third consecutive victory, moving into joint fifth place with Sassuolo and only five points off the leaders.

“It’s a shame we conceded late on, but the lads did very well tonight,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We were solid and always closed down our opponents quickly. We knew it would be a difficult game, but the team spirit was on show. We won deservedly, I can only say I am happy.

“I don’t know about calling this a turning point, we still have to take it one game at a time. This is our third straight win and we’ve climbed the table. We play with less fear now and since we changed system to 4-3-3 we are under less pressure at the back.

“The lads did very well and I thank them for this performance. If we hadn’t made the step up in quality before, it was purely our fault, but today we showed progress.

“It’s no coincidence that with the change of system we picked up 10 points in four games. We are on the right track and now must continue. Saturday against Atalanta, that could be the turning point.

“Carlos Bacca cost €30m, but he’s an important player, he’s generous and really helps out a lot defensively. When he gets the chance, he scores… unless he attempts a rabona.”

There are injury problems, as Alex was stretchered off unconscious and taken to hospital with head trauma.

“He got this knock to the head and was diagnosed with head trauma. He had the tests, but they were all clear. He has to remain in hospital overnight for observation, but he is fine and that’s positive. He did lose consciousness, but then he recovered.”

It was a special match for Mihajlovic being back at the Stadio Olimpico, especially as his 13-year-old son (pictured above) Dusan is a ball-boy for Lazio.

“He was a Milan supporter, but now has become Laziale. I had told him to slow the game down if we took the lead… Obviously I’m joking!”
