The deal has been essentially done for several weeks, a loan with option to buy for €10m, but the confirmation has been hard to come by.
CalcioNapoli24.it spoke to Pedro Menendez, his childhood friend, President of Club Deportivo Lealtad and organiser of the official Campus Michu project.
“I spoke to his father this morning and he said the signature will arrive very soon. It should all be completed between tomorrow and the day after, because they are whittling down the final details of the deal.
“Michu is very excited and happy to be wearing the Napoli jersey. He’ll also get to play in the Champions League and can make up for a very unlucky year due to his ankle injury.
“He’s a real fighter and knows what it means to work hard. I am sure he’ll do great things at Napoli, as he’s so happy to be playing alongside the likes of Gonzalo Higuain.
“Michu is a special guy. If I had to describe him in one word, it would be ‘humble.’ He helped us so much and never forgot his roots.
“Success hasn’t changed him and from the moment he signed for Real Oviedo, I had no doubts he’d become a great player.”
