There had been controversy over the choice of venue, especially when it emerged women would not be allowed in to certain sectors, but there were around 12,000 women in the 65,000 strong crowd.
“It was a wonderful evening, a festival of sport and we thank the Lega’s work to set up this event in a new country for us, an historic event that helped social change to move forward.
“I also saw great confirmation of love for Italy, our football and what we represent.”
