Serie A clubs are on red alert after Schalke’s sporting director confirmed Max Meyer was set to leave the club on a free transfer.
Meyer has been linked with Milan, Juventus and Roma, and Christian Heidel admitted the German midfielder had not shown a desire to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
“We expect Max to leave our club this summer,” he was quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.
“For now there are no negotiations for a renewal, neither does Max want to discuss a new contract.”
