Philippe Mexes has backed boss Massimiliano Allegri to stay in charge of Milan after they ensured Champions League football.
Allegri’s future at the club is in doubt – even after the Diavolo beat Siena 2-1 last night to finish third in Serie A.
“I think it was a complicated season for all of us here from the very start, but we had an incredible mental strength and I think Allegri should stay,” the defender noted.
“To finish third was something very satisfying for us. We proved that Milan deserved more than fourth place.”
Mexes actually scored the winning goal in Tuscany last night as the San Siro giants pipped Fiorentina to third.
Milan, who made some massive squad changes last summer, started the 2012-13 campaign with five losses from their first eight games.
