Napoli forward Dries Mertens has backtracked on his initial reservations about China by confessing ‘we’ll see’ about a potential move.
Mertens once remarked he would ‘never’ play in China and that players only moved to the Asian nation for money, but the Belgian is now more open to the idea of following in the footsteps of former teammate Marek Hamsik.
“I have another year left on my contract and then we’ll see, I don’t have anything else to say,” he told Sport Mediaset.

“I have another year left on my contract and then we’ll see, I don’t have anything else to say,” he told Sport Mediaset.
“I haven’t said anything yet, given my contract expires in 2020. We’ll see what happens, but I’m happy in Naples and I like living there.”
The 31-year-old was then asked about forthcoming opponents Roma, whether Belgium teammate Eden Hazard had talked to him about Maurizio Sarri and Arkadiusz Milik’s recent comments.
“Rome’s always a difficult place to play, but we have to keep playing like we did in the last match against Udinese,” he added.
“Hazard and I talk often but only about training, how things are going, how the team are – important things.
“Milik just wanted to say that I got on well with everyone. I always ask my teammates out for dinner and about doing nice things together.
“I’m happy with what he said, but we have several players like Insigne, Callejon and others who can [be captain].”
